Landscaping: Various Garden Landscaping Styles

Although landscaping is a challenging task, it can be a lot easier if you understand how it works in the first place. You can even save a lot since you need not hire landscape specialists to do it for you. There are certain things you need to consider though before engaging in landscaping.

First and foremost, consider the overall look you want your backyard to have. Think where you wish to position certain things like a playground, a barbeque site, or a swimming pool. On top of that, think of how you like walking paths to be positioned so you can work your landscaping around those.

Then ensure that you know enough information on how to create an ideal garden. You can seek the advice of professional landscapers but their services are usually expensive.

You can save a significant amount if you just visit a nursery near you or even a website that offers free landscaping information. Yet, in case of difficult areas in your backyard, it is best to consult a professional landscaper.

The third thing to consider is your choice of landscaping style. The appropriate style is dependent on your location and the type of your house. You can choose the most suitable style from among six different styles available.

The formal style is the first landscaping style. This employs straight lines and regular shapes for your garden. Aside from that, all plants are arranged symmetrically and are perfectly trimmed. The second one is the informal style which is ideal for pleasant cottage homes. This landscaping style features curved lines and plants that are positioned throughout the garden in no specific order.

The third style uses a combination of formal and informal styles. Here, a brick walkway leads to the garden which features plants that are arranged in such a way that they provide a harmonious look between the garden and the architecture of the house.

Another style to consider is the English garden landscaping style. Although not as formal as the formal/informal combination, it still aims to create a perfect combination between the garden and the style of the house. Smaller backyards can look best with the Oriental landscaping style. Although small, ha garden holds a certain degree of variety in everything that is put in it.

You can employ rocks, water ponds and various plants in an Oriental style as well.

The last landscaping style is the woodland style garden. This looks best in backyards with wooden structures and grounds that are quite hilly.

For more details as to what to put in these various landscaped gardens, you can visit a nursery within your area, or search through websites offering this information. You can even see visual models of these gardens in nurseries or some sample pictures on the web. This can enable you to improve your landscaping efforts without shelling any money to landscape professionals.
